Does your child have a cavity? If so, it’s best to schedule an appointment with our dentist, Dr. Sophie Baird, as soon as possible. It’s important to treat a cavity immediately so it doesn’t grow and get worse. The longer you wait, the more invasive the treatment might need to be. When you bring your child into our office, there are a variety of different treatments that can help. Some of those treatments are:
-Fluoride treatments: This is for the beginning stages of a cavity when the enamel can be restored. The fluoride will seep into the tooth and strengthen it. Essentially, it can rebuild the tooth enamel and reverse the cavity.
-Dental filling treatment: Composite or amalgam fillings can be used to treat the tooth. Your dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth, clean the tooth, place the filling, and then harden the filling with a special light.
-Dental crown treatment: Dental crowns are used when the cavity is more extensive. They are tooth-shaped caps that replace the enamel and restore the health and function of the tooth.
